It seems to be 30 days.... Mine took exactly that long, and there was no good reason why it shouldn't have been sooner.

I got an automated email from: noreply @ atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca after submitting request with the following: "Your temporary request tracking number is XXXXX. After your request has been registered, a new number will be assigned to your request."

Do they send a separate email with new number before they send a response?

Not in my case. I got the temporary number and then nothing until the notes arrived.

it seems to be the case. I suspect that they don't like the ability for people to make the requests, so they stretch it out to the last minute. Then it's a disincentive to make more requests...

You don’t typically need to send additional docs to request your case notes, FYI. I doubt it will cause a delay.

At least. Some are reportedly longer these days because of volume. And the silly thing is that your notes will be as of the day you requested them, not current to the day it would seem they are processed.

For what its worth, I obtained my CBSA entry records via ATIP and they processed the application on the 30th day exactly and I received it in the mail just under a week later.
Different gov department but it seems like don't process until the absolute last minute.

PS. The postmark on the envelope was March 19th, even though the letter to me was dated March 16th, which was the 30th day.
