G1 Driving License

Hello,

I have passed my Ontario G1 knowledge test. I have 3 months validity on the license (im guessing its because of the older DL i showed them.)

Pls throw some light as to what I should be doing further?

The G1 license is valid for 5 years, you have to pass your G2 within this time frame, the G2 is valid for 5 years and you have to pass the G2 test before you get your G license. The validity that you mention for 3 months is only your temporary G1 license before you get the real G1 license which is like a plastic card and not a paper one. You'll be receiving it in mail in about 4 to 6 weeks

If you gust obtained your G1 license and you don't have license from anywhere else in the world you have to wait 8 months.

When you did your test, did you talk to them about already having a license and wanting to get credit for your driving experience? Did you hand in your foreign license and driving abstract? Did you ask about taking the road test? Because those people are the ones you have to deal with for your license so what they say is worth much more than what somebody on here will tell you.

My experience was that I did this in Alberta and I was told when I took the written test and handed in my foreign license that the AB government would have to verify it before I would be allowed to take the road test. They told me approximately how long it would take and who I could call to find out. Once my license was cleared, I made an appointment to take the road test and that was it.

You should go back to where you went to take the written test and ask them what happens next or phone them if you have the number.

Yes i did handover my older license to them. I guess they did some verification or something coz the office took it somewhere for a bit.

I will be calling them to find out when am i eligible to apply for my driving test.
At the moment, im just getting my hands on to the new system.

Any benefit from indian car license, when i go for g1 license in Ontario? How i apply? Tell about fees?

You can also try booking for a road test online at DriveTest.ca. If they had considered and added your overseas driving experience to your profile, you should be able to book a test without any delay(given there are slots available). Otherwise the online tool will have dates grayed out for next 1 year.

Yes, if your overseas experience is considered and accepted, you don't have to wait 1 year for the G2 and G road tests.
