I recently have a child through the surrogacy process. I was told I and can apply for limited validity passport. Has anyone applied for this before? If so how can do this. I have the custody of the child.

could you explore more about it? does this child have anything to do with Canada?

Please read my response to you in the Citizenship form. You are not eligible for limited validity passport, as my previous response you didn't mention it was surrogate birth. The child will have to be adopted.

I am a Canadian citizen living and working in the U.S. My child was born a month ago in India. I applied for Canadian Citizenship Certificate which will take almost one year as I am told. that is why I wanted to apply for the limited validity passport for the baby so I can get her home soon. What is the procedure and where should I apply? Thanks a lot

I am in a similar situation. What did you do?

You'd be better to check with threads that are less than thirteen years old.

But same basic procedure: contact consular section of canadian embassy, explain situation, and basically apply for temporary passport. As part of this they will liekly require applying for certificate of candaian citizenship for the child, and one uses that info (keep copy) to apply for the temporary passport for the child.
