Proof of financial support

Hello everyone!

I am in the process of applying for a visitor visa to visit my daughter, who is currently working in Canada under the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). My previous visit visa expired due to the expiration of my passport, and I will be applying for a new one. My husband’s Canada visit visa is still valid, so only I will be submitting my application.

As a housewife, I hold a residence visa sponsored by my husband in our country of residence. For this application, I intend to use my own bank statements as proof of financial support, as I have sufficient savings to cover the cost of my trip. Although my husband does have funds in his account, they are not as substantial at the moment.

The visa application form asks whether I depend on someone for financial support, and given that I am not currently employed, I will answer "Yes." The form then requests proof of financial resources from the supporter, which in this case would typically be my husband. However, as I am funding the trip independently through my own savings, I wish to provide my own bank statements instead.

I am concerned that this might raise questions, particularly regarding why my husband does not have sufficient funds and why I am self-funding the trip despite not being employed. Could you kindly advise on how I should proceed with this section of the application to ensure clarity and transparency?

Thank you

Say NO and provide all your own statements if you have the savings and more than spouse.
