Restoration of Status with Inland Spousal Sponsorship + OWP

Hi,

My work permit application was refused on February 13, 2025, and I have been out of status since that date. My partner (Canadian citizen) and I are currently preparing our Inland Spousal Sponsorship application under the public policy.

As I am still within the 90-day restoration period, I would like to know if I can apply for restoration of status along with an Open Work Permit (OWP) application.

Could anyone clarify the best approach for this? Specifically:

• Should I submit the restoration of status and OWP applications together with the spousal sponsorship package?
• Or should I wait to receive the Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) for the sponsorship before applying?

Any insights or guidance from those with experience in this process would be greatly appreciated.

Apply to restore your status to visitor and submit the sponsorship application. Once restoration is approved and you have AOR, apply for the OWP.

Certainly no harm in doing that.
