Hello,

A friend of mine who was an international student in a University lost her dad while she was running her Bachelor's Degree so she couldn't finish due to school fees but she was able to transfer the courses to a University in her home country and finished via distance learning while she is here working on part-time basis.

She used the Degree from her home country to gain admission into a masters program in another university and her previous student permit would expire next year

How should she go about renewing her visa.

She needs to apply for a new study permit (not a renewal) following the current application rules. Her sturdy permit would have been cancelled once she stopped attending school.

She is outside of Canada, correct?

Did she work after she stopped studying? Her study permit is invalid after she stopped school.
She may be working illegally.

And yes, if she wants a new study permit (her pervious one is NOT valid after she stopped studying, the expiry date doesn't matter), she needs to apply for it.

She will need to show funds and study plan...etc. Just like any new study permit.

That's massively problematic. That means she's working illegally and almost certainly is also out of status. She needs to leave Canada as soon as she can.

By any chance did she obtain a destitute student work permit before dropping out of school? When did she stop attending her school in Canada exactly?
