I called the IRCC. They say my visa should be still valid. It was suppose to expire in July. My old passport is expiring in July and my new study permit also expires the same date.

Can they explain why you were denied boarding then? Sadly also don’t trust the customer service line of IRCC so would either get this is writing or maybe follow-up with the consulate/embassy in India. Many tickets are non-refundable these days so would want to make sure you don’t get denied boarding again.

IRCC customer service line is sadly not reliable. I would try a second source of information or get something in writing. Contacting your MP may also be another option.

Another suggestion is to try CBSA, but I do not know if they will share this info.

Best do a foia
Freedom of information act request

https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/agency-agence/reports-rapports/pia-efvp/atip-aiprp/req-dem-info-eng.html

It’ll pull any information except that being highly sensitive

When I worked for the Government it was drilled into our heads that ANYTHING we wrote on our clients account could be obtained by the client

So if it went to court , you didn’t want it too say “ Client was an absolute moron “
As an example

I'm sure this is all true, but the context in which I was suggesting was simply call CBSA and ask (I have/had a TRV which is still valid by date but was denied boarding while I had a study permit in process - now that study permit has been approved, will I be able to board?) - on the outside chance that you'd get someone who would actually check and see/get confirmation.

Failing that, I think only way forward is to apply for a new TRV. (Complication being there that IRCC might say 'but you have a TRV').

Definitely an ATIP in due course won't hurt, but in the immediate, won't help much.

Ok. Thanks. That might be helpful.
Applying for new visa is fine but if my current visa is still valid than becomes a bit complicated.
I will call CBSA and raise ATIP.

ATIP will take at least 30 days so perhaps not practical to wait for answer on the atip before deciding what to do.

THE form was not working when I tried. I guess I will just call CBSA and IRCC on monday and hope to get an answer.

Worst case would be to try to fly again, since I know the situation now I can get some clarity if I am not allowed.

Even called the embassy they only suggested to use web form. The web form is already sent. But reply takes more than two weeks.

If it does not work then have to apply for visa again. Just because I already have a visa I will do this last.

The issue is we aren’t actually sure if it is valid since you were denied boarding. The goal is to confirm that it is valid and if possible figure out why you were denied boarding so it doesn’t happen again.

Final update- I travelled to Canada today. There were two issues. One with my new passport and other was study permit not yet approved and both were not showing in the system.
