Hi, I just wanted to ask – I have a closed work permit. Can I still apply for a study permit for my son? I’m asking because I heard there have been recent changes to the immigration rules.?

Thank You,

Thought you were going for JR? Children getting study permits based on parents work permit is more difficult because they may want you to be in TEER 0 or 1 job, or be on the list of eligible NOCs. Same for SOWPs.

Yes, the court proceedings is underway. That's the reason I wanted to know, is there a point to still goahed with the court case, if no more study permit eligibility for my dependent. What would be the outcome please. Will there be any positive outcome or should we not reapply for a visitor visa for him?

Wait for the outcome of JR and see what happens. Cannot tell you outcome.

Now you are asking about TRV but you want him to study. You need to make up your mind why he is coming to Canada.

Sorry, I mean since the rules have changed, is it going to be a refusal because as per the laws there's no eligibility.

He is on an online school and I can continue that, my main goal is to have him with me to ensure his wellbeing as it's difficult to be apart.

Thank you!
