Just got the Oath email, in-person ceremony, Kitchener. Would I be seeing anyone from here? Also, the letter mentions choice of paper certificate and e-certificate. It says paper certificate would be issued at the ceremony while e-certificates within 5 business days. Does anyone know if I could switch to paper certificate at the ceremony? At the time of applying, I had opted for e-certificate, primarily for speed, though I'd have always preferred paper, purely for sentimental value.

"Citizenship certificate: We will confirm your choice of citizenship certificate type (paper certificate or
e-certificate) at the ceremony. Paper certificates are given at the ceremony. E-certificate download
instructions are emailed to you – please keep this email so you can refer back to it after the ceremony to
access and download your e-certificate. E-certificates are available for download in the IRCC portal within 5
business days after the ceremony."

I have an in person oath in Montreal on the same day at 9AM. Is your ceremony by any chance in Montreal as well?

Kitchener in-person ceremonies are on Mondays only (I've been checking for a while now), since yours is on 7th (Friday), most likely it's virtual?

Not sure where/why my application is stuck. Was requested fingerprints on 31st Jan, Provided thru authorized agency on 1st Feb, got a ghost update on 18th Feb but no movement in the application since nor any other communication.

Should I be calling ircc to check ? I was hoping to travel in Feb and then in March or early April....this uncertainty is uncomfortable. Moreover, my 10yr US visa is expiring in Aug...I frequently travel to US to visit family, I would usually apply to extend such visas well in advance...with this ongoing process I am in limbo. [end rant]

Go now. No-one can say how long the LPP will take, and if you get the invitation to oath ceremony, it will usually be with 2-3 weeks notice - so unless you're planning a super-long trip, no issue. And worst case, you can fly back to Canada for your ceremony, and apply on urgent basis for passport.

On Jan 24th 2025 my oath status was updated in the system and it says I have my oath ceremony scheduled for March 24th. I am wondering if anyone here has such a delayed oath ceremony though rest everything was completed in January itself. Also, I haven't received any email so far regarding the oath ceremony details. Any help? Should I reach out to ircc or is it too early since my oath is scheduled in March? Thanks

It won't hurt to contact them. It is a bit odd, although if you requested in person and are in a place where they don't have them often, could make sense.

There was a case here of someone getting a notification of an oath ceremony almost 12 months in future. It turned out to be an admin error (probably data entry) and was rescheduled quickly.

So if you want it sooner, sure, contact them - and if you don't mind either way, at least you'll have clarified it's not an error.

Thanks for the response. I also strongly feel that it could be a data entry issue since I did not explicitly request for an in-person oath ceremony. Could you please share the best method to contact ircc. Is there any phone number or web-form or anything else that can help me to contact them? Thanks again
