Hello, I have received ITA and I am in the process of applying for pr before April 06 deadline. My spouse overstayed in the country but he is leaving to his home country around mid March. I just wanted to know if he can do medicals in Canada and with me. He will be obtaining his police clearance once he land in his country. I just wants to know if him doing medicals in Canada would have any issues.

Thank you, please assist. @scylla @legalfalcon @canuck78 @Ponga

why would he do it in Canada? Will likely be both more expensive and if follow-up is required will complicate things. You wouldn’t have been asked to do medicals already and if you have been working in Canada you may not be required to complete a medical.

We were hoping to do it together tomorrow. He is physically healthy. Maybe I will wait until ircc send the request so he can get it done from him home country. We were just hoping to get everything done with his Police clearance only remaining.

As PA you likely won’t have to do one why spend the money. Did you even have an appointment at a panel physician? It is a holiday on Monday in many parts of Canada.

The main concern is his overstay and doing medicals in Canada would have any impact on my application

I called them and they said they are open tomorrow. My medical exam was done 5 years back and his as well. So I don’t qualify under the public policy that provides an exemption.

The other issue is you want the medical to be valid as long as possible. It just doesn’t make sense to do it now for a variety of reason. Also very disturbing the you can get a walk-in appointment for a panel physician.

The appointment was supposed to be yesterday but had to reschedule to tomorrow due to snowstorm. I scheduled it online as they said. I found them through the list of panel physicians. He is leaving like two weeks prior to submitting application. We do have finances to conduct the exam. It is just that I don’t want to jeopardize the application as he is overstay and he does medicals inside Canada. He has already booked the tickets to home.

He is non accompanying, as adding him would lower scores as well. We are planning to do sponsorship in the future,

He’ll still need to do medicals and both of yours will still expire after a year
The processing for Cec is around 5-6 months right, do you know if his overstay and him doing medical in Canada would have any issues. He can do it from his home country as well

5-6 months is not set in stone. Not sure why you want to do it in Canada? What if he has to do TB testing and they need to compare chest X-rays for example?

He does not have any health issues so far as know. He previously did medicals and it was all normal. The thing is we just want to get things out of the plate and thought we could do medicals together tomorrow.
