LMIA work permit

My PGWP will expire next year in 2025, and I still have roughly 6-7 months left on the work permit. My current employer is helping me obtain a high-wage LMIA with dual intent. I'm confused about how long it will take to process the LMIA, as the process started in November 2024, and delays these days are significantly higher compared to previous years. My immigration lawyer says the process will take roughly 2-3 months, but considering the current situation, I'm unsure if it will take that long. If anyone knows the current processing time for a positive LMIA, please let me know.

With my pgwp expiring soon, I'm trying to go for wp extension (explaining how my LMIA high wage is under process) just to buy time, and then once LMIA is approved, I was thinking of converting the application to Closed WP through a webform. Is that a viable option?

Maybe. Depends on when LMIA was filed and how long it takes to get WP refusal for a fake extension.
