Hello,

So just received our ITA today.

My wife is primary applicant she started her work august of 2023, and started maternity leave nov 2023.
She has not returned to work yet but will do so in the next month (March 2025).

Ive read online that if youre on maternity leave you are not eligible for the 1 year experience.

Questions
What proof of employment does IRCC need?
Should we push through or decline the application?
She has had 480 hours clocked on her work, should she just finish the 1080 hours needed(1560-480) or does she need to do exactly 9 more months to complete 1 year work experience?

Thank you in advance.

You cannot count her maternity leave as Canadian experience. She didn’t work. No way around it. If she has a year of Canadian work experience (calendar year and the hours) before maternity leave then move forward. When did her Canadian experience start? So she only has 3 months of Canadian work experience? Why is she in the pool then?

We were not aware that being on maternity leave does not count as experience.
Thats the reason I am asking the question.

Well she didn’t do the job so doesn’t count. She can re-enter the pool once she has one year of Canadian work experience unless she has it already.
