I am posting this behalf of one my cousin. As title says his PGWP expiring end of this month and his OINP application is under assessment. What are his next steps? Can he apply for a work permit to buy some time or better to apply a visitor visa?

Isn't the employer supporting the OINP application? If so, they should be willing to support the open work permit. Can your cousin talk to the employer?

Thank you @scylla for your response. Employer did not provided any support explicitly to OINP. He has close to 2 years of experience in his field which made him to get his OINP invitation.

My work permit is expired and ryt now on maintained status(applied work permit extension) and in ONE month i will apply for visitor record. Should i raise a web form to oinp about my file or should i wait? And one more question if we dont have any option to stay here and we go back to home country while oinp is in process. will this thing affect my application or i can get approval over there also. after approval then apply PR from there and then come back. There is no guaranteed processing time so my sure how you can say you went to additional processing times twice. Why have you not applied for a BOWP? Assume you have AOR. Did you have grounds for the WP extension?

No the extension is a dummy just to busy some time for work . We cannot apply for BOWP on the basis of OINP. We can apply BOWP when we will submit our file for PR in express entry.
