Some allegations are circulating about the Canadian immigration system, and I also came across them today. It is claimed that some Indian officers working at IRCC prioritize and expedite the processing of applications for Indian individuals in exchange for bribes. For instance, a refugee claimant's PR (Permanent Residency) card, which normally takes 26 months to process, is allegedly being issued in 11 months. According to these claims, such corruption primarily benefits individuals from their own community.
If these allegations are true, IRCC will face serious credibility issues. People come to this country believing in the rule of law and democracy, but allegations of discrimination and favouritism are deeply concerning. When top-level authority is concentrated within a single group, issues like these can arise. Hopefully, these allegations are unfounded, as such practices would undermine Canada’s principles of transparency and equality.
