Hello,
I applied for permanent residence (PR) with my spouse, who is outside Canada, in February 2022. I received my PR in November 2023, and my spouse received a pre-arrival letter and medical request in December 2023. It’s now January 2025, and we haven’t heard anything regarding my spouse’s application. The visa office in Lebanon and the Canadian embassy there haven't provided a clear timeline.

Has anyone else experienced delays like this? The embassy never gives a specific timeframe, and I’m looking for advice on what steps to take next.

hi everyone,
-My father applied for PR as a protected person in 2022. Me, my mother, and my brother are in our home country.
-While appling for PR, my father has included us on his application.
-Application was submitted in March 2022.
-Then it was reviewed in April 2022.
-Asked for a police report in October 2022, but it was submitted in December 2022.
-On April 2023, my father received a prearrival letter and was asked to submit the same form, which we filled out while submitting in March 2022, and the forms were sent to the New Delhi Visa Office in May 2023.
-On April 2023, PR confirmation was received along with ecopr.
-My father received PR in August 2023.
-We received mail asking us for a medical examination and biometrics in May 2023.
-Biometric submitted in May 2023.
-Medical examination submitted in June 2023.
-June 2023 we received mail from the New Delhi office saying I am not eligible to come to Canada because, at the time of the submission form, I was over 22 years old and asked for an explanation.
-On July 2023, the required documents and explanation letter were sent to New Delhi explaining why I should be coming to Canada with my family.
-No acknowledgement letter was sent.
-On October 2023, my mother received a prearrival letter.
After that, there is no news from anywhere.

Please, anyone can tell me after this what will happen.
Hi, I’m having the same situation like you do and also been frustrated. May I ask were you above 22 when your father submitted the refugee or the pr application? Because I was under 22 when my mom applied for refugee and turned 22 when she submitted the pr application. Thank you so much and looking forward to hearing from you.

Here is my time line.
2022-11-16: PR application submitted through PR Portal, for me as main applicant; I added: my wife, and two kids ,11 and 6 years old (all in Toronto), and my other son who lives in Iran but his age at that time was 25. I asked them to consider my 25 years child as a dependent child (well documented).
2023-05-25: I received a letter as an email with G000… file number that asked for recompleting the Schedule A form for me and my wife. In addition, they asked for a Police Certificate from a country other than my original country.
2023-05-25: AOR
2023-06-29:
After 2 days of challenging, I could connect the application to GCkey Account. The account shows me, my wife and two children with us in Canada but nothing from the 26 years old son.
2023-12-08: I received Invitation to Pre-arrival services in my GCKey account (useless).
2023-12-11: Finally, and surprisingly, my son in Iran received an email as Medical Examination Instructions with a separate G000 file number.
2023-12-14:
Medical Examination done.
2023-12-14: I and my son both received same emails according to my son for his newly completed Forms Generic Application Form [IMM0008] - Schedule A [IMM5669] - Supplementary Information – Your Travels [IMM5562] - Additional Family Information [IMM5406] and Police Certificates, Passport Copies, and Birth Certificates (all his document already had been uploaded on 2022-11-16 ).
2023-12-18: I received an email:
This letter refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada under the Protected Persons class.
It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a Protected Person. Please note that a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background checks for you and, if applicable, your family members. You cannot become a permanent resident until you and all your family members have met these requirements.
The overseas office is responsible for processing the applications for permanent residence of your family members outside Canada and will determine if they meet the eligibility requirements. You have listed the following as accompanying family members outside Canada:...... Dependents listed above have received or will receive a document checklist shortly.
Hey, hope your cases are moving smoothly! Just want to know if your older child been accepted as pr yet? Hopefully he does as I’m in the same situation like you did and pretty frustrated with my dependent child as well. If you can see this please let me know, thank you!

Regarding Your 26 years son, it is clearly written in PR rules that 22 and over ages dependant could be admissble if they are mentally and economically dependent on their parents.
But Medical Examination is necessary for accomoanied or non accompanied family members.
I had gone through this scenario, so i know this situation very well.
Hi, hope you’re doing well!
Just wondering if you could give me some advice based on my application.
I submitted refugee when my eldest child was under 22 years old, at the time of pr application he already turned 22. But before I made the refugee application he’s already working full time in Canada. My question is with this scenario will he still be eligible for being a dependent under my case? Me and him already had bio metrics done and for him only requested IMM5669 again asking for his personal history. If you can give me some insights that be much appreciated! As we are pretty frustrated these days.

The date you filed the refugee claim, his age is locked on that date.
His personal history is a regular requirement, bears no relation with his age locked date.

Hello All.
Any update after overseas family medical done? My family did medical in OCT 2024 since then no news even though my application is in Pilot program and I got my PR in OCT 2024.
Any idea how much time would it take to receive PPR after medical for overseas family?
