Concerns About Traveling Back to Home Country as a New Canadian Citizen

Hi everyone, I recently obtained my Canadian citizenship on December 12, 2024, through the refugee route. I’m planning to travel back to my home country for my marriage, as proxy marriages are not accepted in Canada. I’m wondering if this could cause any issues.

From what I understand, as long as there was no misrepresentation in my refugee claim, there shouldn’t be any risk of having my citizenship revoked. However, I came across a post on Facebook where someone claimed that after returning to Canada from their home country, they were questioned thoroughly by CBSA. They even had to sign some papers and later received a letter (Even though Canada post was on strike) revoking their citizenship. I’m not sure if that individual was confused, as the post was made on their behalf by someone else.

Is there any real risk in traveling back to my home country as a Canadian citizen? Has anyone experienced this or knows of potential issues? Thank You

Hi u just told me that I am a fake refugee claimer. But I see u want to visit ur home country after getting the passport why?? Why did u even applied for asylum if u wanted to go back to u country?? So my prediction was right. Pls man be human. U r using the system and getting away with it but when ppl like me suffer in reality u troll?? Just bcz I shared my experience with some radical Muslim u called me fake out of ur anger that's not human thing. Have some shame. Thank u

i remember chatting with you on another thread you just deceived me upon reading your comments aimed at the OP .
It is legal in all countries where a refugee obtained citizenship to return there .
too many refugee visit home countries after they acquired citizenship and it doesn’t mean they are bogus at all . cessation only apply at refugees. Conditions change for many .

No I am playing the same card he played. He made me a fake refugee I bcz I shared my experience. Go ahead and see his comments. He told me why I came as a student if I couldn't afford he said he hope I get deported. He said I should have sold my cows and goats in order to study but I irony is he was student. Why he made these comments on me. He was also a refugee.

Oh okay usually i dont get involved in this but i checked thread of yesterday he seems of them who promotes the religion of peace and feels bad so he wants to take revenge and defend his god by attacking you .

there is even one guy named ( ref19to22) who literally called me the parrot of the western bigotry .
guess what ? he is here eating and benefiting from the west society generosity but at the same time he has a deep hate against the West without mentioning that according to a saying/ teaching of their prophet muhammad which emphasizes it is haram to live in a non muslim society unless it is for preaching Islam ( the so called religion of peace )
for the record he is not the only one most of them hate the west although they will risk their lives to come over here

ive been a former practicing muslim too i also was acting like them hating on jews and chriatians and women etc but once i decided to quit despite my dad was an imam which is a person who call prayers in mosquees and myself i studied in an islamic school in North africa they pursue to go after me and try to assasinate me as their prophet told them to do so ( apostasy act ) . I am so glad i quit my country to find safety here despite there are too many around in the west but until now there is a law above us protecting us despite they are wishing there is shariaa law

Make sure to get your medications on time to come out of this imaginary world where you think you’ll be approved for selling goats and cows, when you knew all along that you wouldn't be able to cover your tuition fees. Lol, look who's saying this: the person who couldn't afford the tuition and enjoyed the university for 5 months and then came to their senses that the fees wouldn't be covered with selling goats and cows, so why not apply for asylum? Keep hoping conservatives will soon take over, and you will be the first one on the flight getting back at your old job. RIP
