Delay in background check

Hi,

My wife is the primary applicant for our visa. She submitted her application on September 30, 2018, after receiving her provincial nomination. One year later, in October 2019, she added me as her spouse. We also included our daughter in the application in 2021.

After checking the online application tracker, we found that all the required activities for my wife are completed, but my background check is still in progress (for almost four years now!).

We have sent nearly 50 emails to the Paris visa office and IRCC, but we keep receiving the same response each time.

Is there anything we can do? Please note that we have Syrian nationality and are residents of Syria.

The issue is most likely your country of citizenship as Canada waits for immigration and security checks from Syria. If information is not received then it your file doesn’t progress. The issue is with Syria not Canada. She cannot get PR until you do. Consider talking to a Canadian immigration lawyer.
