I have a question about a job offer I received from a new employer who is looking for an experienced supervisor. I have nearly two years of experience in the same field. He is offering me a pre-approved LMIA, but my PGWP expired last month, and I am currently on a visitor record. Can I still accept this job offer?

Please help me with this situation. Thank you!

You can but you cannot apply for a closed work permit from within Canada.

Thank you for your reply. What are my options right now? I also have a TRV valid until 2027. Should I go back and apply for my application?

I’ve heard from many consultants that I can apply for an inland application for pre-approved Lmia work permit after my PGWP expires.

But you are a visitor, not a worker if PGWP expired. If many consultants are telling you then go for it. You cannot work until closed work permit is approved. Hire a consultant to help you through the process, and find out why you can apply inland. Then come back and tell people that you were successful if approved.

I will definitely let you know if it gets approved. I’m feeling confused because half of the e consultants say I can apply, while the other half say I cannot. I went to different consultations, and it’s been difficult to make a decision these days.

Read the article. You are visitor. Ask consultants what the loophole is. When does LMIA expire? Wage?

You can apply from inside Canada if one of these applies:

The loop hole is for people without status. People with no status can apply for restoration.
