They don’t issue work permits 2 years or 1 year or 6 months because of they will finalize your pr application in that timeframe. Doesn’t matter how long left your pr process they issue usually 2 years.
it is incorrect information I know about 5 to 10 people who got 1 year WP and in 1 year their pr was finalized and for those who got 2 years WP their PR took 2 years almost and you forgot one more thing in 2025 the refugee quota is 20k from 40k so it might cause a long delay in applications..

since you applied PR in March 2024 keep in mind until March or April 2026 for yourself why would they issue 2-year wp if they plan to give you in a year or early?
I submitted my pr application in March 2023 and got an eligibility pass in March 2024. So, do I need to wait 2 more years for the pr decision?? for WP I also got 6-month valid automatic letter from my gckey account but I got a WP approval letter and original WP (2 year valid) by Canada Post.

That's the initial letter as an extension until they process your application. My wife got the same thing, followed by the WP after Two months.

Those guys will definitely want to keep you “working” by all means, of course, you know why, for many reasons, and you working is MORE advantageous to them. They don't want you to rely on their resources, and also, as you “work”, they collect taxes.

So, for the fellow whose application has gone past 24 months, deploy ALL means to keep calling and sending them GCMS notes, writing to your MP, and ensure to keep pointing it out that, your application is gone past the 24months period.

If it is the other way round, they keep insisting that “you are still within the processing time”. That PR is a great reprieve, even for one’s mental health. Press on them, it is your right. WP is not synonymous to PR.

Hello guys,
I know this is for 2022 applicants but I'm a 2024 applicant. I've question that's why I'm posting it here.

I'm a PR Principal Applicant under Protected Person class. I applied last week of February 2024. During the application I added my overseas spouse. Recently we are separated, and I let IRCC know about it via a web form. I requested them to process my PR application only.

My question, is it gonna take longer time than usual to process my PR though I'm withdrawing my accompanying overseas spouse?

I called IRCC several times about it and they don't even know.

there is no issue as long as you submit via webform it is all Good they won't proceed with the application of a separated spouse or in any case, if they do again you will have all control as your details and email is there..and your case will take usual time instead of longer processing

if you applied in 2023 march so no wait for 2 years however it can take up to June or July 2025 Good luck and hope for the best who knows you will get it in March 2025 :)
