Hello.
I am a Canadian citizen currently in Cuba on paternity leave. I have a 5 month old daughter with a Cuban citizen. Our daughter was born in Cuba.
We would like to come to Canada to visit my parents and to show my partner what Canada is like. Unsure if I will return to Canada for work or if we will all move to another country when we are able.
My daughter is already a Canadian citizen and I will have her passport shortly.
Should my partner and her other dependant child apply for a visitor visa? I think I could sponsor them all for PR but still unsure if we want to live in Canada permanently.
More details:
I think we would be considered common-law because for the past 12 months I have spent more time in Cuba than in Canada. I only returned to Canada when it was necessary for work.
My Cuban partner does not own a home in Cuba. She was a nurse in Cuba but we agreed that she should quit because of the paltry wages here. I have been financially supporting them.
I am separated from my Canadian partner for the past 2 years but we are not formally divorced.
Is a visitor visa for them the way to go? What are the chances of it being approved.
Any comments suggestions appreciated.
