I had filed application for PGP sponsorship . I got a mail saying I am ineligible to sponsor but a final decision will be made by an officer.
In the application I had opted for the option to "continue processing application even if I am found ineligible".
My parents got a request for fingerprinting. Is this due to my opting for continue processing application although I may be ineligible?

Yes, you said to continue processing even if ineligible.

IRCC is doing exactly what you opt for; continue to process although you are ineligible.

As others have said, they will continue to move through all of the processing steps of the application including biometrics, medicals, PCC, etc. And yes, this is because you told them to keep processing your application. Once all steps are completed, they will then officially refuse your application.

I am on the same boat my friend. It’s strange, I received an email at 10 am requesting biometric and 3 hours later a notice of being financially ineligible to sponsor. And yes, I checked the second option on my application to go ahead and process. On the letter I received today they said, they forwarded the application to visa officer abroad!! The officer will decide, I can appeal if they reject! I am rejected cuz my Personal income on NOA is not enough so I added my business income on top! They didn’t accept!
I checked the appeal page by IRCC, they said I can show business income as an appeal!!!
I am disappointed but tbh I was kinda expecting that.
now since my parents are from Gaza maybe going forward with the application based on a humanitarian ground might help, who knows.

IRCC needs a better system. Ridiculous that those who actually follow the application instructions lose out.

Can you share that IRCC appeal page on allowing business income to count towards income to meet LICO? It would be interesting information for others.

here is the website, but you have to wait till you receive a final decision and invitation to appeal!!! for now i am just moving on with the process and will wait till final decision.

It didn't say you can USE your business income. It just said you can show these documents.
  • financial statements prepared by your accountant if you own a business
  • corporate tax assessments for your business

I have a business and it makes enough income for sponsorship. if they consider business income in the appeal process then i hope they will accept my appeal once i submit it.

You can provide that information and hope that they will take it into account - but you should understand that would effectively be making an exception / being lenient in your case only. (Which I strongly doubt they will do, because it would be unfair to others - but I don't blame you for trying)

The requirement is quite clear:
https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1525&top=14

They take what is on line 150 (150.00) of your tax return (minus some other things that likely don't apply to you).

If your other e.g. business income is not reflected there, it does not count for PGP sponsorship purposes.

As a business owner, you could have pay yourself a bit more if you planned ahead.
It make sense to pay yourself a livable salary as you worked to run the business.
It's something to discuss with your accountant and if you planned to apply supervisa for your parents, you need a livable income as well.

In fact, i lost hope of receiving an invitiation to sponsor. thats why i did not plan to give myself a big salary from my buisiness. Also, on the financial proof form where you calculte the size of family. on the last page they had options for income you could select employment or self employment i selected both and provided both. on the guide under the financial proof they never mentioned if you could or could not show you business income! i called IRCC and they advised me to apply anywaye and see what the officer says! in the end i beleive i do have a strong ground based on humanitarian path to appeal. I was sent a letter to invite and I decided not to waste the opportunity since my parents are from Gaza i wanted to give it a try anyway and apply, who knows. and yes i asked around and called IRCC. I wasn't selfish and took someone elses spot! it was my spot and i was invited. I am not going to cry a river over it. whatever happens.
