Hi everyone,

I just got the medical done for visitor extension/Applied Super VISA, and X-ray report has come back abnormal, However, last year when I did the x-ray for medical (as they ask every year) there were no findings).

The report says - No active TB but evidence of past TB ( I have never had TB to my knowledge and hardly had even a day of cough in last decade or so)

"right mass lobe >1cm . Advise further assessment with CT scan. Medical Grading 4.4"

I'll consult the physician but please advice or share your experiences in such a scenario, I also checked with insurance and looks like they don't cover it as its incidental finding and I do not have symptoms, and CT if advised to do alone cost upwards of 2000 CAD.

Please advise, I'd highly appreciate some guidance and advice from experienced members or someone who had this experience,

This is not unusual. The fact that your previously chest x-ray may have not shown any irregularities is likely why you aren’t being referred for a sputum culture and a CT instead. Supervisa insurance is emergency medical coverage. Even provincial health coverage would not cover a CT requested for an immigration medical. The other big issue is trying to secure the CT. Unless you live in a province where private CTs are available it will be incredibly difficult to get one through the public system even if you are able to pay for it. Best option may be to return home and get it done there.

But, the panel physician hasn't submitted the medical to IRCC yet, and I'm wondering what'd he mention in the report? Will IRCC ask for another x-ray, CT or sputum? they have the medical from the last year obviously with no abnormalities. Ideally, since the intention is to check for TB, which clearly is shown not active in x-ray report, but past evidence says yes, I'm in a limbo of possibilities. And, in the my visa/visitor record expires next month. For treatment, I can get it done elsewhere for sure.

How did you get a CT request with information from your current chest X-ray if the medical had not been sent to IRCC by the physician? If you stayed past the expiry of your visitor record then you actually have to complete the medical or you can have issues returning to Canada and getting a new visa. Would add there could also be concerns that this nodule is something else which is why they want a CT.

CT was mentioned by the radiologist on the x-ray report, I just accessed the report, Physician hasn't submitted the medical to IRCC yet, and said he will do on 9th Jan. And, I have already submitted the app for extension, so I won't be overstaying illegally as long as application is in progress, I am legally within my rights to stay. Yes, to the second part where the radiologist might be concerned but its also 99% old lesion seen in eastern people, I am sure it was their last time as well but the then radiologist maybe ignoring it or have had other interpretations. I will do CT regardless of whether IRCC asks for it or not. Hopefully, they won't stop the application for this? as their main concern is TB and other elements which are all unchecked in the report, only 4.4 is checked.
Hence, medical grading 4.4
