Hello everyone.

I searched everywhere but couldn't find an answer to this.

My status was "student," and now I hold a PGWP. I'm applying for PR using the International Post-Graduate stream (BCPNP) (Non-EE).

My question is: Can I include my spouse in my PR application now, considering that he is not living in Canada and has never been to Canada before?
Or do I need to wait until I get PR and then sponsor him?

I would really appreciate your help and suggestions.

Thank you so much in advance.

Basically, you are now applying for nomination. The PR process is in two stages, nomination application and PR application. You will have to apply for PR later after getting the nomination.
You have to include your spouse's information while applying for the nomination but nomination only applies to the applicant. You can absolutely include your spouse later when you apply for the PR after the nomination given to you.

Yes, you can include your spouse in your PR application under the BC PNP International Post-Graduate stream (Non-Express Entry), even if he is not living in Canada and has never been to Canada. When applying for permanent residency, you can list your spouse as an accompanying dependent. This allows your spouse to be processed for PR alongside you. If approved, he will be issued a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR), enabling him to enter Canada as a permanent resident.

It’s important to note that including your spouse in your application will require providing additional documentation, such as proof of your relationship (e.g., marriage certificate), your spouse’s background information, and any requested police clearance certificates from countries he has lived in. Your spouse may also need to undergo a medical examination as part of the application process.
If you choose not to include your spouse as an accompanying dependent, you can sponsor him for PR later under the family class sponsorship stream after you obtain PR. However, this could extend the time it takes for your spouse to join you in Canada, as sponsorship processing can take several months or longer, depending on processing times.

Given that you have the option, it is generally advisable to include your spouse in your application now if you want him to gain PR status at the same time as you. This simplifies the process and avoids the need for a separate sponsorship application later.
