Delaying Landing

Hi everyone, I have a question about NOT starting the landing process when arriving in Toronto and waiting until I re-enter Canada after my travel to Mexico.
So here is the situation; thank God, I just got my PR application approved and got the COPR+the travel stamp we get on the passport. Also, I do have a valid multiple entry visitor visa on my passport (got it before I applied for PR, obviously). I should be traveling to Toronto end of this month. The thing is, it was planned to visit some family members in Mexico before I got my PR approved, and I was going to visit Toronto then Mexico (again before I got my PR approved). Now, as far as I know that once you start your landing process, you can't leave Canada before getting your PR card. Would I be forced to start the landing process when I enter Canada or can I delay this when I am done with my visit to Mexico (while having Toronto as a one week transit stay)?
Any insights?

once you start your landing process, you can't leave Canada before getting your PR card -the part in bold is incorrect. You can leave Canada. However to re enter, you will either need a valid PR card or PRTD if entering via air.

You can request landing be done on your next visit and that you enter as a visitor this time. Assume you can show that you are a genuine visitor. Proof of travel to Mexico in the near future should help.
