Hi,

Good day to you. Firstly thank you for taking time to read this through. Iam a 46 year old INDIAN citizen (widower, no kids) who had got admission and study visa for Master of Applied Cybersecurity (1 year masters') at University Of New Brunswick - Sep 2024 intake. Unfortunately, as both my parents passed away this year, I had to defer my studies to Sep 2025. My study visa expiry date from my passport is Dec 5, 2025. What are the realistic chances of getting PR after completion of studies? Kindly advise. Thank you again.

No one can tell you chances. First you need to graduate, get skiled job and at least a year of Canadian work experience. Most people don’t get PR so come to Canada without those expectations. And due to age, your CRS score may not be high enough for Express Entry. For AIP, you need to have job with designated employer. There are too many factors to consider.

Would be difficult since you’d be applying close to age 50. Unless you have a large amount saved for retirement already you are also potentially setting yourself up for disaster financially even if approved. There is also significant ageism in hiring in many industries but especially with no Canadian experience. It is difficult for many Canadian 50 years to secure employment if they lose their job and it is also difficult to secure a job as a 30 yr old international student with a masters degree but you would be facing both.
