Healthcare Work restrictions

Hello,
I'm an international student studying practical nursing in canada. I went to get my clearance for clinical placement next semester but I was told that my work permit does not authorise me to work in health care. I need to take a medical exam. My question is do I need to apply for a new study permit after my exam to remove this restriction? And if I do will my studies be affected, as in can I continue my program while I have a study permit pending for approval?

So you need to change the condition of your permit so you need to take and pass a medical. You say you are studying but have a study permit pending approval…so which is it? Plan that you will not get condition removed in time for next semester.

No I already have an approved study permit. My question is do I need to apply for another one to get the condition removed, do I need to go through the entire process again? Or is there a faster way. The processing times for another study permit are extremely long and by long I mean 165 days, I can't afford to wait that long as I have clinical placement next semester.

You don’t need a new study permit. You need to change conditions of your permit with approved medical. What I am telling you is that it will take months to change conditions. So don’t expect it for January.
