Hi, I am international student studying at a DLI but I want to change to another college in September 2025. According to the new rules if I apply for a new study permit and i don't get it what will happen to my current study permit? Will I be able to continue to studying at my current college? I'm enrolled in the second semester at my current college and I intend to complete my first year because I paid the fees for the whole year and I'm thinking I'll apply for the new study permit in June or July. If anybody has any advice please share it. Thank you in advance.

You are not going to stop studying at your current DLI until the new permit is approved. So waiting until June or July will be too late because current processing is 14 weeks. Apply earlier so you get approval before September.

I'm worried that if I apply before June or July and I get it I won't able to work because my current study permit will become void. I currently work at a hospital and I love it there which is why I thought that waiting until June would be good so I could keep working there and if my new permit gets rejected can I still keep studying at my current DLI. Thank you for your help.

So prepare that you will not get permit approved in time for September. Also why would you be able to work during the summer if not returning to the school on your current permit.
