Dear folks, my friend submitted his Citizenship Application in Dec 2023. Three months later police suddenly invaded his house
with a search warrant for a child pornography investigation. He does not know why they came out of the blue with such an acquisition.
Anyway, he informed the IRCC about the incident and it seems his application has gone on hold. Is it possible that the issue has come up
after his application and this should not affect his application? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated to help him what to do.

Any crime investigation will freeze the citizenship application regardless of when it happened, including right before the oath of citizenship.
Your friend better forget about that citizenship application and only focus on the ongoing investigation with his criminal lawyer. If it's dismissed, the application can resume, if not, well, someone is being thrown out of Canada the second they leave prison, with no coming back, and rightfully so...

Has he been charged as a result of the raid? Yes, if a criminal issue comes up after the application was submitted, this will impact the application.

Police don’t tend to raid people’s homes randomly looking for child pornography.
