Work Permit replacement

Hi everyone,

I’m seeking advice on how to proceed with replacing my work permit. Here’s the situation:

My work permit was approved, but the copy was sent to my previous address. Since we had moved, it was sent back to IRCC. IRCC has advised us to wait six weeks before applying for a replacement.

The replacement application form asks for a police report for lost or stolen documents. However, I’m unsure if my case qualifies as either “lost” or “stolen,” given that the permit was simply returned to IRCC.

There is an option to leave the police report field blank and provide an explanation instead. I’m uncertain whether this would be the best course of action in my case.

Has anyone faced a similar situation or have insights into what might work best? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

A little bit different scenario. It happened to me back in 2020 when I still didn't get my SP after waiting six weeks. It was COVID-19 but still I got through to the IRCC agent and mentioned that it might be "lost in transit". The agent over the phone just cancelled my SP and re-issued a new one and sent it to me again. I had the new SP in my mailbox within 6 days! May be try calling them first before filing a report?
