Hello,
I have 2 years of work experience on Post Graduation Work Permit now and accordingly my CRS score has been updated on my application. I will get ITA in the upcoming round. My question is that is it alright if some of my work experience was earned while I was remotely working outside of Canada in my home country (Say about 7-8 months of work experience) ?

Short answer is no.

It does not count as Canadian work experience. Only work experience completed physically in Canada counts. You need to list your work experience for that period separately in your EE profile so that the 7-8 months is counted as foreign work experience and not Canadian work experience. Make sure you aren't getting points for those 7-8 months as Canadian work experience.

Thanks @scylla ! That's sad though, this probably means that I am still not eligible for ITA i guess :( How do I update my EE profile to indicate that I was out of Canada but working for a Canadian company and hence its foreign work experience and not Canadian work experience?

You can't claim Canadian work experience you don't have. That will just end in a refusal and possibly (although unlikely) a misrepresentation ban if you try to hide the fact you were outside of Canada. You need to make sure your EE profile is accurate and does not give you points you cannot claim.

Updating your EE profile is simple. You simply break this period out into a different job / period of work experience and indicate the work location as your home country. Make sure this period is being counted as foreign work experience.

Thanks once again! I am also assuming since its only 8 months of foreign work experience, its not quite enough to give me any points :( Well I'll get the ITA when I get the ITA. Just patience :D

@scylla another quick question, what do i fill in IMM5662 form (Travel Information) as the "Purpose of Travel" for these visits out of Canada where I was working remotely? I don't need this answer right now since I won't need to fill it out now but would appreciate it for later!

You cannot claim this as Canadian work experience. You have to report this time as foreign work experience.

I’ve completed my study in Sep. 15 2021, received completion letter on Oct 16 2021, applied work permit on Oct 24 2021. When does my PGWP experience count starts as I’ve started working full time as soon as I’ve competed my study which is on Sep 21.
