P2 - 28 October
Still waiting for my eCOPR. The simplest step in the entire process for becoming a permanent resident is taking the longest, with no established timeframe. One of my project assignments is on hold because I can't apply for the needed security clearance without becoming a permanent resident first. In December, I have two short work trips outside North America and a long holiday planned for Christmas. My only hope is that my eTA doesn't get cancelled the moment I receive my eCOPR in the portal—so at least the airline will still allow me to board my flight to Canada.
I had a not so lovely chat with a IRCC phone agent earlier today, and they will only intervene by contacting the case officer when 3 months will have elapsed after P2.
Just as a note of encouragement, I was also told three months when I was waiting for eCOPR, I had my daughter waiting to join us in Canada and it was so frustrating, After they took more than three years to process my application three months seemed like an eternity, I even went on our local news to highlight the plight of immigrants waiting in queue for eCOPR,
I called IRCC every week, I told them I run a business which I have to hold back from expanding because my daughter and only employee cannot enter the country until the PA received eCOPR, which was absolutely true, When they said three months I made a huge deal of it to IRCC, my MP and anyone in authority who would listen, Most of all I prayed so fervently because our mental health was being seriously affected,
I said to IRCC that they make immigrants jump through hoops doing medicals so they won't be a burden on Canada but they failed to see the looming mental health crisis looming because of stressed out families.
Almost two weeks after, I got eCOPR, I was literally writing another letter to the immigration minister when the email popped up,
Don't be afraid to make a little noise, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. And I agree with you, the immigrant agents were the least helpful, sometimes I hung up on them until I got a non immigrant Canadian, I know that sounds horrible but it is what it is, Here;s to the eCOPR tsunami!
