Using scanned documents for spouse Visa?

Good morning,
I recently got married in the Philippines and im planning on applying for spouse visa to bring my wife to Canada.
We are going to hire an immigration attorney to help us with the paper work to make sure we have all the proper documents.
Im just wondering do my wife need to mail me her real copy of documents or can she just scan them and send it online?
Any information would be great!!!!
