AISH and Disability Tax Credit

Hi,

I am a Permanent Resident and I am in Alberta Province. I am in AISH (Mental Illness) since 2018 November. Am I eligible for Disability Tax Credit? Or Am I just eligible for AISH?

Don’t know. You will have to read the rules and see if eligible. DTC is a tax credit.

The bar for disability tax credit is much higher. You can look to see the specifics but this program is really set up to care for those who have such severe disabilities they are unable to lead normal lives and will have to be cared for life often by their families. It primarily involves those who have been disabled since childhood.
