Hi Yujue,
I also have to delay my arrival in Canada after getting PR due to a high risk pregnancy and needing family support. I spoke w a lawyer who has counseled me about how to make it work even years down the road. I will probably try to get a DL before the card expires, and potentially sponsor my child before I am out of compliance. But if you work with a lawyer they may be able to write a letter on your behalf about the compassionate and humanitarian reasons that you were out of compliance.

May I ask for an update on how your process went? Were you able to apply for renewal after you reached two years eventually?

Would appreciate hearing your experience.

Thank you very much Tubsmangee, for you kind help.

It is very heart-warming to get information on the forum.

I am glad I get to know the information, otherwise I may have submitted my application for the renewal of PR card based on "Covid exemption"

you are replying to a post from 2 years ago. A lawyer’s letter will not help. You need concrete proof of why you could not meet your RO like your medical records indicating why your pregnancy was high risk and why it was not advisable for you to travel. That would still only cover a fraction of the period when you could not move to Canada.

Great, thank you. I wasn't looking for legal advice as I already receive it from a professional. I was just looking to hear Yujue's experience and hope she can give us an update.

It seems that many people on this site rush to give out advice when they don't have expertise. It seems built on resentment and dashing people's hopes.

Best wishes for your life in Canada to everyone!

These cases depend on specific details and what level of enforcement is going on. In the first few years of covid IRCC was very understanding with people who did not meet RO so very hard to compare 2022 to end of 2024. Also immigration doors were wide open in 2022 while now Canada is trying to reduce level of newcomers and temporary permit holders.
