I have a question about the Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). I currently hold an open work permit, and I’m wondering if getting a job in Ontario—regardless of the job category—would be enough to qualify me to apply for permanent residency (PR). I also have a 7.5 IELTS score. Could my job category affect my eligibility for PR, or could it cause any issues with the immigration process?"

I'm not sure what you mean by job category. This is a skilled workers streams so your job must be in a specific teer. All teers are not accepted.

Thanks for your response.
I currently hold an open work permit and previously worked in Montreal, Quebec, under a closed work permit in a Category 1 job (IT System Analyst) according to the NOC classification. Now, I am considering moving to another province and taking a job that may fall under NOC Category 2 or 3, such as roles like chef, firefighter, plumber, or gas fitter.

If I secure a job in Ontario in a Category 2 or 3 occupation, will that position qualify me to apply for PR through the Ontario PNP, or could my job category affect my PR eligibility?"

It's all on the OINP web site. Your job must be TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3.

Make sure you also familiarlize yourself with what your employer will need to do if you want to apply through this stream. This is an employer supported stream. They need to be willing to go through the process and provide the forms / paperwork required.

Are you aware that most of the jobs you have listed require some pretty significant training or in terms of a chef some significant experience If no formal training? Learning French may be your best option and assume you may have already started living in Quebec.
