I am a police officer and I am planning to retire next year after 20 years of service, God willing. I am considering migrating to Canada via Express Entry. However, I am worried about the process because I have been separated since 2010, and we did not file for annulment or legal separation. We have a son together. Do I need to include my husband in the application? I would appreciate any guidance on this. Thank you in advance!

If retiring, then are you even eligible as it is based on age, education (ECA), language skills, work experience and funds. Immigration is now focused on young people skilled in healthcare, trades and fluent in French/English. How old is son?

You are still married so include spouse.

You are married so must be included. Have you completed ECA, IELTS/TEF? How old are you? Are you even eligible?

Immigration numbers were drastically cut yesterday with focus on people living and working in Canada. The focus for those outside Canada is trades, healthcare and bilingual applicants.

I am 43 years old, born on January 24, 1981. I became a police officer at 24 and plan to take the IELTS soon, as well as begin processing my ECA. I will be retiring in December 2025.

As for proof of funds, I don’t have the required amount at the moment, but I should after claiming my benefits.

You most likely will not have at least 67 points to submit a profile due to age. Are you fuent in French and English to submit a profile? If not eligible then Canada is not an option.

I am currently enrolled in a caregiver course, which I hope will be beneficial for my future plans. I believe the skills and knowledge I gain from this course will open up new opportunities and enhance my qualifications in the field.

Ohh that’s sad…
What is your selection score? Immigration numbers were slashed yesterday, and you are not in an in demand field. Foreigners in Canada with Masters and working in Canada with years of skilled experience are not even getting invited.

You won't score sufficient points to be selected, especially with the lower targets recently announced. Unfortunately your plan for immigrating to Canada is not realistic at your age and based on your occupation.
