Hello, our family of 3(Husband wife and a child were on a PR application and it got approved for us for Saskatchewan PNP). We three now have our PR cards also. Our 2nd child is a US citizen by birth. I understand that as parents we need to apply for his PR and get approval and until then then he can be Canada as a visitor (US citizens allowed for 6 months). My question - US citizens can travel and stay in Canada for up to 6 months (no visa required) and meanwhile we will apply for his PR which might take a few months. What sort of extension do we need to apply for after his 6 months are over and we are still waiting on PR approval? There is no visa involved here as he can travel for 6 months showing his passport. Question 2: Does Saskatchewan healthcare cover dependent child if both parents hold PR and health cards or visitor insurance is the only way until we get his PR, apply for health card and get it?

When did you land (soft landing) in Canada as PR? Was your child born before or after your family landed as PR?

This is very important to be able to sponsor your second child.

He can extend his stay as visitor and remain inside Canada. I am not familiar with Saskatchewan healthcare to cover child in visitor status. In most other provinces, a visitor will need to get private emergency healthcare insurance. And pay out of pocket for regular doctor visits.

Soft landed in 2022. Then got our PR cards for 3 of us who were on the application. 2nd Child was born after we had got our COPR and soft landed in Canada. yes I am planning to buy emergency health insurance for the child until they have healthcard.

Only option is traveller insurance. that will cover only sickness that happens suddenly or accidents. It has limited upper limits. Vaccines are not covered. Nor any preventive visits. see what child's vaccine schedule is. I understand that child needs vaccines till age 2. then from age 4 to 5. Once you are settled there, you will have to apply for child PR, and that might take 6-8 months. I heard that there are walk-in clinics which will also provide assistance during sickness but the out of pocket will be 100-200 CAD per visit. medicines will be separate.
