I can give a bit more anecdotal info on the goods to follow (goods coming later with professional moving company): CBSA was not picky about any aspect of the forms, except for two - they wanted a value put in Canadian dollars against line items, and they wanted some breakdown that corresponded to 'boxes'. They didn't insist on specific descriptions, serial numbers, any of that stuff. Large groupings like 'bedroom furniture' 'kitchen goods' etc was fine.
Our breakdown corresponded to what the moving company had done (boxes roughly by room/type) so this was easy. I had lots more detail (serial #s and the like of some electronics and cameras and the like); the moving company had insisted on more detail for some things like this and art because of customs on the other end (the country we departed). Customs wasn't interested in that.
Warning though, your experience may vary (follow the insturctions if you can), and we also didn't have anything much exotic or particularly expensive (eg antiques or high-end jewellry etc.)
