I have the following queries regarding my SOWP extensions based on my wife's dependent visa.

My SOWP is expiring on April 15, 2025, due to my passport's expiry date. My wife's studies will be finished in December 2024, and I will move to Canada in the first week of March 2025 to file for an SOWP extension from within Canada. My wife is pursuing her MBA from UCW, which is a 16-month course, so there are no issues in that regard. However, she will be applying for her PGWP in January 2025. She will be working as a food service supervisor after graduation, which is classified as a NOC 2 job.

I have seen the new rules from IRCC that are set to be declared on November 1, 2024 : New IRCC Changes from 1st Nov,2024.

They have mentioned that,
  • limiting work permit eligibility later this year to spouses of foreign workers in management or professional occupations or in sectors with labour shortages—under Canada’s work permit programs (TFWP and IMP)
Does this mean that the new rules will apply to new SOWP applications, or will they also apply to existing SOWP extensions for those applying for extensions within Canada?

Nov 1 is for PGWP changes. For SOWP, the release only says "later this year". They are probably going to announce changes fairly soon and it would apply to new and extension imo. Your wife should try to find a better job to improve your chances of approval.

Agree to your point of view but they have mentioned management or professional occupations and no recent graduate will be able to qualify for those kind of job it seems. plus management which is my wife's aree of job. All those Management roles are senior which is require almost 5 years of experience. Canada is literally saying no to the sowp but it should have spared the old visa holders who are already in canada. They are trying to ruin the families by changing rules and we came to canada on old rules. Hoping for the best that new rules should be applied to new comers only.
