I have been a Canadian PR since 2008 but never lived in Canada and have no intention to. I now want to visit Canada for a family member’s wedding but am troubled by the eTA Application.
According to https://ircc.canada.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5781etoc.asp#, I can apply for an eTA even without renouncing my PR status first as they would send follow up instructions on renouncing PR. However, I have just received approval for the eTA without further instructions on renouncing my PR.
I’m so confused now. Am I actually not a Canadian PR? Or perhaps they didn’t realise I’m a PR because I didn’t provide the UIC (the field asking for the UIC after I indicated that I was previously granted PR in the eTA application form said it was optional to provide it so I said NA, since I didn’t have it on hand), and my passport number has changed from when I was a PR?
Does anyone have any advice on what I should do next?
