Just out of curiosity now that there is new EOI in place for pr pathway in Alberta. Are first degree aunts included in the Family Connection in Alberta? It was mentioned on the website that... "Only connections or relationships that match the AAIP definition with the principal applicant (parent, child or sibling) and are verifiable and apparent through essential supporting documents are considered eligible." Our relationship can be proven through essential supporting documents.

She is your aunt. You get points on the grid. Does it transfer to EE stream…who knows. FYI having a family member doesn’t guarantee you anything. Alberta moved away from family specific selection a year ago, and moved to those with job off or living/working in the province. They now select who you want. So if your score is high and your job is in a NOC in demand (healthcare) and you have a job offer or work in the province then you have a good chance.

And I think with their own EOI process now, it’s going to be very competitive coupled with broadening of family connection.
I guess we will know more once they do a few draws to see the pattern.

It is only 8 points out of 100 for family member. With more points for Canadian experience and job offer so it will help those already working and living in Canada.

Absolutely correct! With the first draw of the new EOI published, one can say it’s going to be significantly hard for anyone without a job offer to be invited. The parameters are now so broad that a fam connection and in demand job won’t cut it anymore.

There are 30k in the EOI pool already! What was the first draw score or was it Tourism? For a long time, Alberta was viewed as the “easy” province and people moved there just to settle so family members abroad had a family connection. Now that it isn’t enough. You need to live and work in the province now. So curious out of those 30k in the pool, how many are actually working in AB. And how many are eligible for AOS which is where most will be selected.

The score was 70! These draws are AOS driven and it won’t matter the stream under which a draw is conducted anymore - the scores will be high. Sigh :(

Wow! That was for tourism only too, and only LMIAs. Having family is not relevant anymore and so many people moved to the province thinking they could support family members. Saskatchewan will be next.
