Hey everyone,

I’m a PGWP holder working on getting my one year of experience for Express Entry (CEC).

I heard that since I’m on a PGWP, I can get an extra 50 points for a job offer that isn’t supported by an LMIA. I saw someone mention they confirmed this with IRCC.

But then I checked with an immigration agency, and they said that’s not true—that I need an LMIA to get those points.

Does anyone know what the deal is? I’d call IRCC myself, but I can’t find the time.

Thank you all in advance!

You need a LMIA.

The only way to get the 50 points on a PGWP is to have your employer obtain an approved LMIA.

I think you are confusing the rules around PGWPs with the rules around LMIA exempt closed work permits.

In your situation an LMIA is needed to get the points.

Don't bother calling IRCC. This rule is very well known.
