I'm curious about the passport checks when transiting through Toronto airport, between 2 international flights.
A friend from the UK applied for his eTA and in his application said that he had never been arrested, however he was arrested for a drink driving charge 6 years ago (which resulted in a fine, and which I have told him is considered a serious offence in Canada, even if it is considered spent back in the UK)
His eTA was approved, but I'm curious what data the Canadian border force will have about his spent offences in the UK.
Do Canadian border forces have access to UK criminal databases, and do they check them during international transit? Will they even care, or just try to get him out of Canada as quick as possible onto his outbound flight?
