Degree as Language Proof for Citizenship.

Hello,

My wife didn't appear for ILETS/CELPIP as it was not needed while processing PR.
So for Citizenship language Requirement, we are planning to provide her engineering degree certificate as proof. It's from University of Rajasthan, India.

On Degree/Marksheets are in english and course was studied in english but it doesn't mention language of instruction on degree.
Is it acceptable?

While reviewing IRCC note, to me it seems language of instruction is required only when certificate is translated from other language.

If you read at the bottom of the link, there is a button which states "No, I didn't study in French or English". So regardless of the language of the certificate you have to be able to answer yes to "Did you study in French or English".

If you click on the button "No, I didn't study in French or English" and then continue to answer the questions it will instruct you what is needed.

Then seek clarification from CIC or send the certificate off to them, if they require more information they will tell you.

Did you get any confirmation from CIC? I am in same boat as you.

My wife also did not need it during PR, but took CELPIP while applying for citizenship. Her certificates were in English too. Don’t forget that the case processing officers will compare to the checklist and not make a decision that if the degree certificate is in English, then language proficiency is ticked.

IIRC for the PR phase they expect that the degree is from an English or French speaking country, so India may not qualify in that respect. I could be wrong but that is what I remember.

What one must notice is that the bar for IELTS or CELPIP is really low for citizenship tests, unlike in PR where you need an 8 band to score high points. You just need 4 or 4.5 bands to get through for citizenship. So taking it might be another option.

My application was sent back when I sent IELTS academics so I included my degree certificate from India as proof of language. They accepted.
If it is English then u dont need to worry I think.

Hi, may I ask which particular degree was that? My wife is in the same situation, she has a master of arts in English language.

only submitted diploma, it's listed as enough proof.

Hamgha, Did your Diploma specify Medium of study ? In my case certificate/diploma doesn't specifically say Medium of study is English but marksheet does. That is why I am trying to figure out will it work if I include both certificate and Marksheet.

If you did the test in the past for immigration or citizenship purposes, IRCC will accept the results even if it has expired.

Check for Secondary Board marks sheets it should mention as medium of education - English . i uploaded Secondary board certificated at they accepted
