Hello I have sponsored my Conjugal Partner I he did his Medical check in July 25, 2024 and we have also received pre arrival letter in July 17.
application status is in progress for medical exam, biometrics and background check and eligibility not yet started.
does any one know how long will take to hear back from them?

You still have a while to wait if background checks and eligibility haven't started yet. This means your application is on earlier stages. The pre arrival letter is pretty meaningless and doesn't mean the application has been approved.

Ah - OK got it. That's not really that unusual. Also depends on what country you are from and your background / history.

I am from Afghanistan. Unfortunately I did my first medical check in March 16, 2024 but my CXR was abnormal then I waited for another 3 months to do medical exam again. so this October will be one year since I have applied. I have applied in Oct 20, 2023

You still have a while to wait if background checks and eligibility haven't started yet. This means your application is on earlier stages. The pre arrival letter is pretty meaningless and doesn't mean the application has been approved.

I spoke to IRCC two times last week and one time the week before and all three agents told me once you receive “pre arrival services” it means you’ve passed eligibility. Why do you guys on here always say it’s meaningless ?

Because people sometimes receive the letter before eligibility has been complete and/or are refused for eligibility reasons after receiving the pre-arrival letter. Also because the IRCC call center is known for giving out incorrect info.

this is what I also found when I google it but believe me in my Status , my eligibility not started yet. maybe they have not updated on my status.

I mean that receiving the pre-arrival letter doesn't guarantee your application will be approved
