We talked to an adoption agency in BC as we are wanting to start a family by adopting a baby from India. The agency told us that healthy babies get adopted domestically and only babies with health issues are left for international adoption.
Does that hold true?

That is a question for an Indian adoption agency. This is not uncommon in other countries.

You may want to check an adoption in India related forum. I don't think there is enough memebers on this forum about orphane adoption.

Hi,
What happened to your adoption? You should go through the intercountry adoption process if India is a signatory of the Hague convention on international adoption. If you have found someone specific to adopt in India then you can inform the adoption agency in BC for guidance.
You can contact the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) in BC, they will guide you on the process.
It will be a long and expensive one. Good luck.

We don't know where to start. As a BC residence i tried to call BC adoption agancy to get some information but they didn't picking up teh phone and I left msgs multiple times nobody called me back.

The adoption would need to be completed in India. Is the child an orphan? Are both parents deceased?

Both parents are alive.

You mean home study will be done after we adopt teh child.

In that case the adoption will serve no purpose. The child will receive no immigration benefits from it. The one exception might be if the child has been living with you for a few years and essentially has no contact with either parent.

This will likely be considered an adoption of convenience by Canada which would not qualify for sponsorship. Is there a specific reason the child needs different guardians? Is the child currently living with at least one parent?

IRCC won't approve the sponsorship based on the information you have provided.

If adoption is expensive, raising an additional adopted kid would be more expensive down the road.

Or you can adopt a REAL orphan but expenses to hire immigration lawyer to deal with international adoption may not be cheaper.

As already stated this is a clear adoption of convenience and will never be approved. I’m sorry you are going through infertility. You may want to consider something like foster care as a potential way to grow your family. There is a huge need for foster parents and lots of kids that need loving homes and there may be an opportunity to adopt during the fostering process. The costs involved are mostly covered by the province.
