Hi everyone,

is it possible to apply for both my PGWP and a special measure open work permit at the same time and get both?

Yes, I have seen that as well but wanted to be sure. The IRCC website says that all applications are processed independently of each other so both applications would still be processed. The situation is that my PGWP would be one year but my special measures work permit would be 3 years. Hence after graduating I opted to apply for my special measure work permit instead. However, I am not allowed to work until I get a decision on my application which could be months. So if I apply for my PGWP as well, I would be allowed to work as of right now until a decision is made.

It may not be directly related to what you are asking as IRCC may not process both applications. The real question is why?

Not necessarily but your plan might work.

You need to have a valid study permit at the time of PGWP application to be able to work and it needs to be applied within 180 days of final grades being posted.
