Hi All,

I contacted my MP's office regarding my wife's sponsorship application, and they informed me that her application has been classified as non-routine. The reason given was the need to verify my (the sponsor's) eligibility, even though all required documents were uploaded and submitted. Additionally, I am waiting for my citizenship ceremony.

Is there anything I can do to help speed up the process?
I submitted the application four months ago and would prefer not to exceed the 10-month processing time frame.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Do you know why your eligibility is being reviewed? There are a limited number of reasons why this might happen. You must have an idea why. If not, order your GCMS notes.

- PR sponsor outside of Canada
- on social assistance
- criminality issues
- spouse not declared in sponsor's immigration application
- previous sponsorships

Your application is non standard so pretty much guaranteed you are going to exceed the normal processing time.

Thanks for your reply.

The only thing I'm suspicious about is: not declaring my spouse in my immigration application.
How should I update this information?

I'm currently in the process of obtaining citizenship. When I completed the forms, I wasn’t married at the time.
About two months ago, I had my citizenship interview and informed the officer that I had gotten married. The officer mentioned that it was not a decision-making change. Two days ago, my prohibition(the last step) passed, and now I’m waiting for my ceremony.

However, I didn’t update my immigration application.
What should I do to update my status, and how should I proceed?

I really appreciate your help.

There is no way to update your immigration application to add your spouse now. It's far too late for that.

Did you live together for a year or more before you became a PR?

Getting married is irrelevant to your citizenship application. This issue is with the sponsorship application.

we were in a relationship for the past 11 years.
4 years back home and 6 years long distance and in that 6 years I visited her 3 times.
I added all the documents along with explanations.

When was the last time you ordered your GCMS notes?
Since the MP office told me about this non-routine 2 days ago, I didn't ask for any GCMS note yet.

Just FYI, her Visitor's visa application refuse on last Friday after 2 month waiting for it.
The reason was not enough Family tie outside of Canada

You need to order your GCMS notes. Do that now. You need to confirm the reason why IRCC is reviewing your eligibility.

I'll go ahead and do it now.
I heard it's going to take a month to get a reply. Will update if I got any update.
Once again, Thank you so much.
