Hi,

I am being hosted by my friend in Canada who is going to write me a letter of invitation. My elder brother is funding my degree. Since my brother has a stable job in Australia and is a national there, we just thought of attaching his bank statement along with payment of one year's fee for my degree. So is it necessary to put the money aside for my day to day expenses?
If it is a must to set aside money for my day to day expenses, can my elder just transfer money to my Canadian friend and we show that bank transfer along with a letter from my Canadian friend? Is it going to be enough?

Regards,
Beenish Raza

Friend’s invitation is not relevant to your application. No reason for friend to receive funds. If brother is funding degree then he shows his bank statements to show that he can afford your living expenses, as well as support himself and his family. How old are you? Did you show any of your own funds? Concern will be how you will afford studies if more than one year so calculate total for program. And explain how it will be funded.

Alright. So you are saying as long as his bank statements show enough funds to show my living expenses, total 2 year degree expenses and his own expenses, it should be alright.

Here is my own story in all honesty: I am a 34 years old teacher who lost faith in the way schools are run in Pakistan. I decided to take a career break to plan my own curriculum for early years with a focus on performance and creative arts. That led to my family suggesting that I change my environment for a while first so that I get to immerse myself in studying and on the side map out my own venture. I have a childhood friend in Canada who offered to host me in case I pursue a degree program there. I applied to early childhood 2 year diploma at Niagara college near her place.
My own funds are honestly just a bank statement that shows regular income till July turning into income from stable freelance tuitioning gigs. I don't own any land to my name. But my parents have their own house and two other land holdings. I could have transferred it to my end, but as I said, I am doing this all very last minute since I honestly wasn't thinking about it till May when I decided to take a career break. So I am just gonna show those land holdings as proof of ties to homeland and my intent to do business back home. I don't know if thats gonna be enough.

You are not taking a degree, but a diploma. There is a big difference. You are 34 years old so you should be showing your own funds. Showing funds from your brother will weaken your application. Your parent’s house and land is not relevant to you. Land, not even in your name, is not a tie. And that alone is not a strong tie.

At 34, you need to show education and career progression. To justify costs, you have to show how much more you will make then you did before you took a break.

Your chances of approval will be low without showing your own funds to cover both tuition and living expenses. I also agree that you need to explain your program choice in Canada, how this makes sense in light of your previous education and work experience, and why you need to come to Canada to complete it.
