URGENT ADVICE NEEDED

I am writing to seek clarification regarding my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) renewal application. My current PGWP was set to expire, 8th September 2024, due to my passport expiry. I have since renewed my passport and was in the process of submitting my extension application.


While filling out form IMM 5710, I encountered an issue. The form showed an error message indicating that the "date of work permit should be greater than today’s date," which was 8th September 2024. To overcome this, I changed my laptop’s date to 7th September 2024, which allowed me to validate the form. Afterward, I successfully uploaded all the required documents and submitted the application at 1:30 AM EST (Toronto time) on 8th September 2024.


According to the IRCC website, online applications follow UTC time for deadlines, meaning the submission must be made before 11:59 PM UTC on the expiry date. Since 1:30 AM EST converts to 5:30 AM UTC on 8th September 2024, hence I feel I have submitted my application before deadline.
I also received a submission confirmation email shortly after completing my application.
Can anyone confirm is this is considered that I have maintained my status again? Can I start working again on the basis of the submission confirmation letter? (i have not received the PGW-EXT letter yet) Can IRCC reject the application after months saying I need to apply for restoration? Please advise. Really urgent. I’m so nervous. Thank youu.

That is not the right form you filled out for a PGWP. It cannot be submitted online. PGWP extension due to passport expiry can only be done via paper.

If you need to extend your PGWP or change its conditions
You must apply on paper if you’re extending or changing the conditions of your PGWP. You can only extend your PGWP if your passport expired before your PGWP’s validity period.

If you need to extend your PGWP or change its conditions
You must apply on paper if you’re extending or changing the conditions of your PGWP. You can only extend your PGWP if your passport expired before your PGWP’s validity period.

In the form I said- applying for same employee.
Please let me know and provide advice further. I am really worried.

I am following what it states on the IRCC site and I gave you the link, not what some YouTuber said. IRCC says to apply via paper, not online. You are on a PGWP so not sure what you mean by same employee. You will not get a PGW-Ext letter. You need to ask an immigration lawyer because you may be out of status if you needed to apply via paper as IRCC tells you to do. You most likely are out of status because you didn’t follow IRCC instructions.

So your PGWP expired yesterday? If you haven't been able to apply for an extension before yesterday, you are out of status and need to apply to restore your status. You are currently out of state.
